Built as the capstone project for my Software Design degree at Queen’s University. Museum AR was an interactive system which was designed by myself, Stuart Rutty and Justin Motazedian, in order to increase the information density of a museum exhibit.
The application works as simply as pointing a tablet at objects in the room, if more information is available an highlight will appear, you can then tap it and gain access to much more information.
The application is built on a Microsoft surface using a interface built by Justin in C# and a back-end recognizer built by myself using C++ and OpenCV. The artifact database system reads and displays standard html files to allow it to be easily modified and updated, this component was written by Stuart, who also compiled the information.
